**ASICS Novablast 6**
*Road — Hills — 11.2km | 97km cumulative | ~3 weeks*
The Novablast 6 is a daily trainer that earns its rotation. After 11.2km on a hilly road route — climbs, steep descents, switchback corners — it held up across every demand you put on it.
**Midsole**
The dual-foam setup is where this shoe does its best work. The FF Turbo Squared in the forefoot is propulsive on climbs — not in a way that takes over, but responsive when you put the effort in. From the midfoot back, FF Blast Max handles the heel with cushioning that feels protective and smooth. On steep downhills and switchbacks, that rear stack gives real confidence when braking on heel strike. The geometry does the work.
**Outsole**
The new ASICSGRIP forefoot is legitimately grippy — grippy enough to squeak, especially transitioning from wet to dry surface. Planted on corners, no slipping.
**Upper**
Very Novablast in character — a training fit with solid lockdown. The new woven textile runs a little snug at first but gives just enough over time to land somewhere very comfortable. Short break-in window, then it disappears on the foot.
**Novablast 5 vs 6**
Put similar early mileage into the 5, but never reached for it the way the 6 gets pulled out. The 6 feels more nimble, more agile, more fun — not because the 5 wasn't good, but because the refinement is that much more dialled in. "A solid quality of life update for the range."
**Who it's for**
Any runner. Couch to 5k through sub-2:30 marathoner — the Novablast isn't asking for credentials. It's a daily trainer in the truest sense.
**Where it stays home**
Speed work and racing. It can handle tempo efforts, but it's not the first choice. It knows what it is.
